What is fractional trading?

Fractional trading lets you buy the amount of stock you can afford, whether that’s $5, $50, $500 or $5,000. Some of the most popular stocks today are also some of the most expensive. Building a well-diversified portfolio consisting of just a few shares of each could require tens of thousands of dollars in upfront capital.

Can I transfer fractional shares to another brokerage?

Transfers: Some brokers won’t let you transfer fractional shares to other brokers. Instead, they transfer any full shares and sell any fractional shares to give you as cash. This may be merely an inconvenience, as you may be able to repurchase shares quickly at your new brokerage.
